F-2-R Regional Immigration Program (충청북도)

 




On March 19, 2024, the Province of Chungcheongbuk-do announced that it would be accepting applications from foreign nationals interested in participating in its Regional Immigration Program until April 5, 2024. This program allowed eligible foreign nationals to reside and work in areas experiencing population decline with relaxed visa requirements.

In Chungcheongbuk-do, six cities and counties were selected for the Regional Immigration Program for the year 2024. These areas were Jecheon-si, Boeun-gun, Okcheon-gun, Yeongdong-gun, Goesan-gun, and Danyang-gun. A total quota of 205 visas were allocated to Chungcheongbuk-do for the year 2024.

The permitted sectors for employment and priority information specific to Chungcheongbuk-do were as outlined below:

  • 1st Priority: Graduates from Semyung University and Daewon University

  • 2nd Priority: Graduates from universities in the Chungbuk region

  • 3rd Priority: Graduates of universities outside of the Chungbuk region


Boeun-gun (30)

  • Most manufacturing

  • Accommodation and food services

  • 1nd Priority: Graduates from universities in the Chungbuk region

  • 2nd Priority: Graduates of universities outside of the Chungbuk region


Okcheon-gun (20)

  • Most manufacturing

  • Certain wholsale and retail

  • Accommodation and food services

  • 1nd Priority: Graduates from universities in the Chungbuk region

  • 2nd Priority: Graduates of universities outside of the Chungbuk region


Yeongdong-gun (30)

  • Most manufacturing

  • Certain wholsale and retail

  • Accommodation and food services

  • 1st Priority: Graduates from U1 University

  • 2nd Priority: Graduates from universities in the Chungbuk region

  • 3rd Priority: Graduates of universities outside of the Chungbuk region


Goesan-gun (50)

  • Most manufacturing

  • 1st Priority: Graduates from Jungwon University

  • 2nd Priority: Graduates from universities in the Chungbuk region

  • 3rd Priority: Graduates of universities outside of the Chungbuk region


Danyang-gun (35)

  • Most manufacturing

  • Food and beverage services

  • Business facility management and landcape services

  • Social security services

  • 1nd Priority: Graduates from universities in the Chungbuk region

  • 2nd Priority: Graduates of universities outside of the Chungbuk region


※ Additional requirements are reviewed for individuals within each priority group in the descending order until the quota is reached.

Korea's Regional Immigration Program in 2024 (F-2-R)

 



A record-breaking 66 cities ("시"), counties ("군"), and districts ("구") was chosen for the year 2024's regional immigration program (F-2-R) for a total of 3,291 foreign nationals. This marked a significant surge from the year 2023's 28 regions and a quota of 1,500.

The regional programs offerred two tracks: (1) for regional talents and (2) for Korean descendants. For the regional talents track, the following were some of the minimum requirements:

1. Korean Language Proficiency: Minimum TOPIK Level 3 or KIIP Level 3;

2. Income or Education: Demonstrating either a minimum 70% GNI income (currently, KRW 29,750,000) in the preceding year or holding at least a Korean two-year associate degree;

3. Employment/Business: Confirmation of employment or business as of the application date, with the initial employment or business to be maintained for at least one year;

4. Residency: Commitment to reside in the initial region for a minimum of 5 years;

5. Application Restriction: Strict prohibition against applying for more than one region.
